Wave 10 Separatist Preview Hot Takes

Image
Separatist Hot Takes  Ok, we got our first preview article for the upcoming Wave 10 for both the Separatists and the Republic. This article will focus on the droid friendly ships coming our way this April.  We have the Providence Dreadnaught and the Recusant Destroyer, both are large ships.  As a disclaimer, some of this is wild speculation but I'll do my best to delineate what is wild guesses, educated inference, and known facts.  So now, we'll jump right into the starting ship... Revealed Cards Surprise! I thought we should start with the revealed cards before we go into the more speculative section about each individual ship.  We're going to begin with putting on our small tinfoil conspiracy cap.  So, if you copy the images to your computer (perhaps to reupload them in a blog) you will notice an interesting tidbit with the file names for all revealed cards.  General Grievous is titled as 'SWM42_grievous' and the Providence Dreadnaught arc layout is ...

Clone Wars Round 1 Cut

Image
Game 4 The Clone Wars Tournament rages on.  With a grand total of 22 Tournament Points I somehow scrambled my way to second place in the Euro division of the Clone Wars Tournament.  From here the Swiss rounds are over and we were going to Sudden Death, or rather elimination rounds.  Now you could play the game and go for a bare minimum of kills in order to win and keep eeking by, but we're here for Clone on Droid action and I would do my best to win while still having fun and playing the game of Star Wars Armada.  Gotta push those plastic spaceships around and throw dice, even if they're virtual.   For the next round I was paired up with PT106 who was cruising into the round with a solid 22 Tourney points as well.  I was surprised I made it this far but I was having fun and learning new Clone wars stuff every game.  PT106 was also rolling in with some Acclamators and C70s, so it'd be some Clone on Clone action.  Without further ado, let...

Clone Wars: Episode 3

Game 3 of the Vassal Clone Wars I rolled into Round 3 still at the virtual table 3, still riding my coattails from the Round 1 victory and licking my round 2 wounds.  Pretty sure I was only here because everyone else is still figuring out Clone Wars and eager to shoot each other as there have been lots of bloodbaths where lots of things die and the end score is 6-5.  Part of that may be due to the fact that the defense tokens of the Medium CW ships are only 66% about keeping them alive.  The other 33% of their 'defense' tokens are about hurting the enemy. Therefore, maybe more ship die than we're completely used to. For this match I was paired up with none other than Green Knight himself, the brainchild behind the entire Clone Wars Tournament and also the superpower who pushed Vassal into the Clone Wars era.  GK is quite the good Armada player and brought a very Janky Obi-Wan flavored list.  If you haven't been keeping tabs on the lists, his list is below ...

Creating the Grand Army of the Republic

Image
So you want to play in a Vassal Tourney Recently, Green Knight decided to put on a Clone Wars vassal tournament. Which meant it was time to create a new Clone Wars fleet instead of continuing to try to find a way to make a rebel raiding fleet work. I’ll come back Kanan and Rex, just you wait.  There were also some small changes to the game. Armada 1.5...you may have heard about it releasing with the Clone Wars factions and their starters. So now we’ll be figuring out new factions and new rules without a lot of practice.  Only Prequel Gifs allowed, that's the law The Journey It began on a rainy German day, so any day after October 1st, with the most basic decision.  First off: which faction?  I chose the Grand Army of the Republic for the best reason to pick any faction in Armada.  I like the way they look! I'll figure out a fun way to play them for me eventually. I'll also figure out a Separatist fleet eventually too, but I’m starting with the Clones. With...

The Clone Wars continue

Clone Wars Round 2 Needs more rocks and Exogorths Round 1 was over and I ended up on 'Table 2' which was nice, but I was sure to face someone who would clobber me.  Should've taken a picutre and yelled "Hey Mom, look at me!"  I know where my crazy Armada schemes usually end up and this is still one of those crazy schemes.  I was paired off against Sasska for Round 2, who also had a good game previously.  While this game was lower scoring than both of our previous ones, this was an intense almost cat-and-mouse and "Can we save the Titanic" (at least for me) feeling to it. It was a lot of fun and Sasska was a great opponent.  My List In case you forgot or are new here, then WELCOME! Sasska's list A Muni Star Frigate! and plain jane Vulture droids! My first impression of this list when I was paired against was two fold. 1) Dooku - oh boy! Here will come the actual test of Clone Nav Officers vs Raid.  Are they worth it? 2) Well, my squad ball should win...
