More Rebels in the Rim practice

Image
Because dreadnaughts are cool! The Fleets My opponent and I got a chance to play another practice game since the first one went so quickly.  So we obviously switched factions and picked a new RITR objective.  I had a very similar fleet to the previous Liberty build I just fought so instead I went a different route since I saw how well that worked.  I was going to see how strong intensify firepower and a couple of sturdier small ships could hold out.  Originally, I wanted to just use two assault frigates and I think that's entirely possible if they both have Linked Turbolaser Towers but I was going to try to use Intensify Firepower for dice control, which meant a Pelta. Assault Frigates and this card were made for each other So I ended up with a Assault Frigate B with ECM (played by a much prettier Dreadnaught), an Assault Pelta with Intensify Firepower, and a Nebulon-B Escort Frigate.  My fleet commander was the Master Gunner I, which eventually would be used for ev

The Fleets My usual opponent and I are done with Primes for a bit until the next wave of them starts in January/February, so we decided to start playing around with Rebellion in the Rim sized fleets.  Specifically, just how they feel in the beginning and start throwing ideas out there and see if we can find good combos.  Or maybe things that aren't good in a 400 pt match but suddenly become better with a smaller board and smaller fleets.  We each picked a starting admiral ability as well.  So basically a practice Round 1 fight and the Rebels had the initiative each time.  My Imperial starter fleet was a stab at something random without too much thought put into it.  It is a Kuat with Leading shots and a Quasar I paired with Marrek and a generic bomber to start.  The plan would be to fill the Kuat a bit, Racks and ECM and an officer and then build up a respectable fighter ball for the Quasar to push/chase down other ships.   Eventually this could be something good

Final Georgia Results (Lists & some quick thoughts on them)

Actual picture of the many SSD's clobbering everyone Well,  I had a lot of fun at the Georgia Regional.  Granted it was over a month ago but between life and Thanksgiving it took a bit to get done with all my Armada typing.  Overall, I played 3 games, ended up with 21 tournament points and a MOV of 582.  I landed some sweet swag but more importantly made Exodus Fleet and Advanced Transponder Network not completely fail.  One more round would have been reduce the slight variation caused by round match-ups.  If it had happened I would have been paired up against yet another Ravager SSD, so it would've been interesting to see if I could apply any of my lessons from the last battle to hurting and destroying another SSD.  It would've either propelled me near the top if I won or sunk me solidly to my typical middle of the pack location as I tried for Glory.  Because ultimately I'm here to have fun and go 'Pew Pew!' The reason we all play Armada Below, I

Carrolton, GA Prime Game 3 - Fighting the Ravager

After a 10-1 and a 3-8 I was square in the middle of our pack of 21 Armada players.  There were 4 of us all at 13 points by this time, so assuming things went average at the top tables we all had some hope.  And for the 3rd and Final Round of Armada I would be facing one of the 5 SSD's that showed up.  What I'd been trying to dodge all day because I haven;t ever actually played against one.  However, that should work out, I bet I can win the damage race with nothing but repair commands!  Kinda what the fleet is built for...right? Roy had an interesting Jerrjerod Ravager build that had some slight tweaks from the 'standard' that was parading around.  Still the defense token hating Intel, H9, QTC combo, but Defense Liaison would let him spam Concentrate fire until he needed to change and the Raider would keep him from being tabled if it needed to run or things looked bad. A Super Star Destroyer....how 'Super!' My opponent had already had an SSD vs SSD

Carrolton, GA Prime Game 2 - Ackbar Rising

So I went 10-1 on my first game and was feeling pretty good but knew it was more based on list matchup since I discovered some new things about my fleet.  Now, I ended up on the top table vs Adam, an Atlanta local, and by all reckoning a very good Armada Player.  He was running an all-ship list led my the fearless Gial Ackbar.  Basically, if you end up in the side arcs you will die.  List below for evidence. better get out a bucket of red dice Setup Adam won the bid by a lot, looked at my list with the little VCX poking his head up and decided to let me go first, since he didn;t want to play my objectives.  My thoughts: Great! Now how do I go first with this list when I'm out activated by 3!  No chance of me getting close enough to double arc and start deleting things and no real chance of slugging it out broadside style since he had Ackbar." I ended up picking his Solar Corona, figuring it could hurt both of us equally as bad and deployed in the middle-ish get
