Sector 47: A Star Wars Armada Saga

 So you want to play in a Vassal Tourney Recently, Green Knight decided to put on a Clone Wars vassal tournament. Which meant it was time to create a new Clone Wars fleet instead of continuing to try to find a way to make a rebel raiding fleet work. I’ll come back Kanan and Rex, just you wait.  There were also some small changes to the game. Armada 1.5...you may have heard about it releasing with the Clone Wars factions and their starters. So now we’ll be figuring out new factions and new rules without a lot of practice.  Only Prequel Gifs allowed, that's the law The Journey It began on a rainy German day, so any day after October 1st, with the most basic decision.  First off: which faction?  I chose the Grand Army of the Republic for the best reason to pick any faction in Armada.  I like the way they look!  Clone Wars Round 2 Needs more rocks and Exogorths Round 1 was over and I ended up on 'Table 2' which was nice, but I was sure to face someone who would clobber me.  Should've taken a picutre and yelled "Hey Mom, look at me!"  I know where my crazy Armada schemes usually end up and this is still one of those crazy schemes.  I was paired off against Sasska for Round 2, who also had a good game previously.  While this game was lower scoring than both of our previous ones, this was an intense almost cat-and-mouse and "Can we save the Titanic" (at least for me) feeling to it.   Clone Wars Round 1 After a bit of a hiatus of playing actual games; thanks in no small part to COVID and the resultant workload it has caused, I've dipped my hand back into the sweet goodness that is Armada.  Now improved and changed with 1.5 Rules!  Which I'm still getting the hang of and want to give it a couple months before I make any proclamations one way or the other.   Anyway, for those unaware, Green Knight had a busy November. He updated Vassal for Clone Wars, had a race with Ryan Kingston to get all the Clone Wars cards/1.5 errata into a list builder (BTW both are exceptional), and setup a Clone Wars exclusive vassal tourney with list submissions due Clone Wars release day. Obligatory GIF As much fun as a swarm of Separatist squadrons would be, I chose to dive into the GAR first.  Reason being a tanky squad ball and some cool space triangles.  After some waffling and trying out different setups I ended up choosing what's below.   My list I knew my fighter screen

Changes are here! Due to some leaks over on Reddit from Roland8561  CLICKY we've got some/all of the leaked card texts/errata a little before FFG releases it.  Somehow it usually happens that way.  Below I've hit some of the major changes and my initial thoughts on what that might bring.  They are in no particular order. Evade Rework CHANGE: One of the leaked changes is that Evades will now work all the way to close range.  They still cancel two dice at extreme range and 1 dice at long range.  At medium and close range now (even including distance 1 squadron attacks) it now offers a reroll.  Also, against a ship larger than the defender, you can discard the green token to effect an additional dice.  AKA cancel two dice at long range, two rerolls at close but that token is gone forever. The final game of St Louis- very delayed writeup It's taken a bit (Thanks COVID!) but here's the story of my last game at St. Louis.  I had the privilege of playing Nathan yet again and the result was one of the most fun and swingy games of Armada I've had the joy to play.  Nathan, sorry it took so long to write and push that publish button. I borrowed some ships from Nathan as instead of the usual Garm Frigates fleet I've been itching to try a little modification to my Prime Fleet I took to the Atlanta region.  Mostly, a couple of the new toys seem to offer some interesting possibilities.  Again it is heavily based on Spamming of Engineering and just having my cruisers  not die...but now with Agate and salvo thrown in there.
