Clone Wars Tournament Look Back

Image
Pass in REVIEW For those not in the know, Green Knight put a small little (like over 50+ players?) Vassal tournament to let everyone pile in and figure out how all these fancy new Clone Wars ships work.  I fought my way into the Top 8 with a triple Acclamator List and got beat by the grand champion himself, Beanicus.   This little post will go a little bit into the dissection of my fleet, what I liked, what I didn't, what just plain won't work for the next tournament.  If you're interested in the construction of the actual fleet or ththe BatReps they are posted below for your clicking/reading pleasure. Creating the Grand Army of the Republic Swiss Game 1 Swiss Game 2 Swiss Game 3 Top 16 Top 8 (Final Game for me) My List In case you forgot or didn't click through 6 other articles Things that worked #1 Squadron Ball This is a mean 102 points of squadrons.  Supported with Reserve Hanger Decks and Nevoota Bee it can do work whether it meets and engages a enemy Squad...

Pelta's on a half shell

Image
Pelta POWER! Next up in the 'what we know/preview' is the ubiquitous Pelta.  I'm leaving the flagships of each until a bit later, but I am excited for the Pelta.  (added later...Or I'll just get busy with work and have this halfway written up and then finally finish it up several weeks later). I love the Rebel modified Pelta and I am sure this slightly stripped down Republic Pelta will be a staple in my GAR fleets in the future.   Below is the consolidated 'what-we-know' and again, it's essentially everything related to the ship stats except for the squadron value of the Pelta Transport Frigate.  Let's start off with our dive into what is common between the two ships. Then we'll dive into speculative builds and where they might fit in a fleet. General Overview Atomic Mass on their initial Star Wars stream on 3 February revealed the entirety of the Pelta Medical Frigate and from the Asmodee Preorder page we have the splash for the Transport Frigate u...

Recusant - What we know/thoughts & possible builds

Image
Recusant Destroyers Well, I jumped the gun a bit on my Separtist Hot Takes article but now we have more details so my goal is to spend a day breaking down what we know about each ship and maybe some builds and uses for these ships and how they might mesh into the general fleet order for each faction.  I'm starting with the Recusant because it looks interesting and it's my blog. You want to start with another ship, go write your own blog.  But the other ships will be up soon. Below is all the information we have so far.  Pretty much everything you need to actually run and play with both of these ships, except for the squadron value of the Recusant Light Destroyer.  Otherwise, we simply don't have titles or any of the other interesting options that the new cards will present these large clone blasting spindles. General Overview So Atomic Mass Games on their first Star Wars Stream on 3 Feb revealed the full ship card for the Recusant Support Destroyer and that fills in ...

Navigation Officers...of the Clone Variety

Image
Navigation Officer's need love too Ladies and gentlemen of the internet, while others may surely have used him and enjoy him, I wanted to point out a new favorite officer of mine that I really didn't appreciate that much when he was initially teased or even released.  That is the humble Navigation Officer. *insert record scratch here* No! Not that guy! While navigating is good, for 6 points and your officer slot this guy is a great choice if you're learning the game and still getting used to what to do when, BUT he is not a great officer. In a more competitive world the officer seat is way too important for the simple Navigation Officer.  The Navigation Officer I'm talking about is the chap below and all his friends, they have very familiar faces. I can help you navigate to victory! It's the Clone Navigation Officer (CNO).  And he is essentially nothing at all like the navigation officer mentioned before.  Lets go over what he does: These guys explain it better than...

The End of my Clone Wars

Image
Clones can only carry you so far... So.... I made it into the Round of 8 of the Clone Wars tournament.  My Boarding Trooper Clones would continue to roll on and hopefully through a massive wall of.... 4 Munificents!? Ok, we'll see about that,  because they are ALL built as super tanks!  That's right my next round I was paired against Beanicus and he brought 4 Munificent Frigates and zero starfighters.  Without further ado, this report has been delayed long enough.  Let's hop into it. Beanicus Fleet   Oh, you shot him...well, let's just say that didn't happen So a quick breakdown of the fleet reveals that every ship can send shields to their friends, except for Wat Tambor and he can just take them from his friends.  They also all have LTT for consistency of red dice and Kraken lets them all fix one of their dice too.  This is going to be one mean wall of firepower and shields to battle through. As a side note, the list sure does make it easy ...

Wave 10 Separatist Preview Hot Takes

Image
Separatist Hot Takes  Ok, we got our first preview article for the upcoming Wave 10 for both the Separatists and the Republic. This article will focus on the droid friendly ships coming our way this April.  We have the Providence Dreadnaught and the Recusant Destroyer, both are large ships.  As a disclaimer, some of this is wild speculation but I'll do my best to delineate what is wild guesses, educated inference, and known facts.  So now, we'll jump right into the starting ship... Revealed Cards Surprise! I thought we should start with the revealed cards before we go into the more speculative section about each individual ship.  We're going to begin with putting on our small tinfoil conspiracy cap.  So, if you copy the images to your computer (perhaps to reupload them in a blog) you will notice an interesting tidbit with the file names for all revealed cards.  General Grievous is titled as 'SWM42_grievous' and the Providence Dreadnaught arc layout is ...
